April 2006

It finally hit me last night… that I now live in Buenos Aires. I was sitting at La Viruta in a hidden corner as usual, listening to the music, and watching the dancing. Friends walked passed and we exchanged our usual greetings. Suddenly, it felt like home. It finally broke through to me that I wasn’t going anywhere. This place wasn’t going anywhere. We are both here and this is now my new home, my new “Rhythm & Motion” so to speak. It was a powerful revelation, to find a new home and accept the fact that I am living here. It’s a new experience to not feel obligated to go out every night to dance (as was the case when I was on vacation here), but rather to enjoy life - más tranquilo.

It’s interesting that in my experience, most if not all of my adjustment periods last about 2 weeks. The last time I was here, it took about two weeks to feel comfortable with the city. This time everything felt like home right away but it took about two weeks to sink in that I am really living here…

La vida es una locura :)
